Russia plans of mass vaccination of Coronavirus vaccine

Russia’s health minister has claimed that they have been preparing for a massive vaccination campaign in their country against the COVID-19 for October. Local news bodies of Russia reported this after there was a completion of the clinical trial of Coronavirus vaccine in Russia.

The Interfax news agency reported that Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said the Gamalaya Institute, a state research facility in Moscow, had completed clinical trials of the vaccine and was preparing paperwork to register it.

Interestingly, the health minister Murashko has also stated that doctors and teachers would be the first to be vaccinated.

“We plan a comprehensive vaccination for October,” Murasco had said. As per the sources, it is claimed that Russian will give the local regulatory approval to its first potential Coronavirus vaccine in August. Thereafter, the vaccine will be administered by the health workers and they will finally aim for mass vaccination in October.

The Gamaleya Institute is working on an adenovirus-based vaccine. Yet the speed with which Russia is moving to eliminate it has prompted some Western media to question whether Moscow is putting national prestige ahead of science and security.

On Saturday, Russia reported 95 additional deaths from the coronavirus, with a total number of 14,058. The authorities registered 5,462 new cases, totalling 845,443.

More than 100 potential vaccines are being developed worldwide to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) data, at least four final stages are in human trials, three of which are developed in China and another in others in Great Britain.
